We are seeking a well rounded, forward thinking Building Surveyor to join our multi-disciplinary practice offering a range of commercial and residential services including traditional building surveying and project management services. The role
The role is mainly office based with the following primary responsibilities:
Undertaking residential Homebuyers inspections and preparing reports
Preparing specifications and schedules of work
Responsibility of undertaking tender stage and reporting
Running refurbishment and redevelopment projects in the capacity as Contract Administrator;
Undertaking building pathology inspections and reports;
Undertaking inspections for licences for alterations and reporting thereon;
Undertaking inspections and preparing planned maintenance reports and capital expenditure plans;
Undertaking inspections and preparing schedules of condition
Accepting appointments under the Party Wall etc. Act 1996 and resolving disputes between owners or their appointed surveyors;
Inspecting and preparing schedules of dilapidations (mainly acting on behalf of Landlords) and agreeing settlement of
claims;
Prepare comprehensive survey reports, providing expert advice on the condition, value, and maintenance of properties.
Offer professional guidance on building defects, potential issues, and appropriate repair or maintenance solutions.
The ideal candidate will:
· Proven experience as a Building Surveyor, ideally with extensive knowledge of properties in London and the surrounding home county’s
· Chartered status MRICS (would consider AssocRICS with relevant experience).
· Ability to work independently or as part of a team
· Strong knowledge of building construction, property laws, and regulations.
· Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to ensure accurate surveying for projects.
· Excellent report-writing skills with a keen eye for detail.
· Strong analytical skills to interpret survey data and create accurate reports.
· Effective communication and client-facing skills.
· Must have thorough working knowledge of computer systems including MS Word, Excel, Outlook
· Would be desirable to have working knowledge of AutoCAD;
· Able to travel around London and the home counties with some national travel occasionally required for certain instructions.
· A valid UK driving license.
